Last month, adidas debuted the Magmur runner in partnership with Naked as a part of their new Communitas initiative. Now, the Originals team has created their own twist on the silhouette, now titled the Tephra, for a more widespread release.

The adidas Originals team is always down to change up a pre-existing silhouette, even if it only just released last month. This time, the recently debuted Magmur has gone back under the knife for some quick alterations. The silhouette was initially released as the first offering from Communitas, a new initiative to create shoes with select boutique’s based on their city’s style. While the Magmur was well received upon launch, adidas still decided to make some changes of their own to create a new look to add to their arsenal. Titled the Tephra, the altered version retains many qualities of the original, just adding or removing pieces of material to change each layer. These adjustments are largely seen on the sides of the toe box and around the heel, where the pull tab has been swapped for a more accessible piece. The lacing system has also been swapped out for the regular hole punches as opposed to Naked’s nylon loops protected by leather overlays. The initial colorway for the new Tephra will cover the silhouette in shades of grey with the smallest hits of pale pink and green on the inner lining and highest eyelets.
