This year, adidas Originals is set to launch a new Hybrids series. The collection will combine retro and modern styles in mash-up like builds, and now we have our first look at the Rising Star silhouette on top of an NMD_R1 sole.
adidas Originals is bringing plenty of heat to the table this year. Between a long list of releases filled with collaborations or new exciting silhouettes, they barely have time for more. Yet, the leaks of new silhouettes keep coming. The latest silhouette to leak online is set to drop as a part of the new adidas Hybrid series coming this Winter. The new sneaker combines the fan-favorite NMD_R1 with one of the shoes that inspired the signature EVA bricks: the adidas Rising Star.
First released in 1984, the Rising Star was a brilliant runner ahead of its time. The shoe gained popularity due to the interchangeable pads embedded in the midsole. The small rubber bricks came in different densities, allowing for a customizable feel for the shoe. While the NMD_R1 ditches the interchangeable part, the inspiration from the 80’s classic is still evident in the design. The new adidas RisingStarxR1 hybrid splices the two shoes together perfectly, resting the upper from the older model onto the now classic NMD sole.

The new adidas Rising Star x NMD_R1 hybrid is now slated to drop on October 17th, 2018. The new combined style will retail for around $140, from both adidas and select retail partners.
