The adidas Prophere first debuted late last year. With it’s sharp lines and aggressive shape, the Prophere is a perfect candidate to take on a Triple Black colorway next month.

The Prophere was a somewhat unexpected silhouette. Built to provide a more modern take on the current 90’s inspired trend, the shoe features a very aggressive shape and modern construction. The knit upper features a sleek and textured silt-like pattern, threading together a multitude of grey and black threads for this colorway. The shoe uses the 90’s Riemen system that adidas is known for, which utilizes stripes not only as visuals but as functional support structures as well. These stripes can be seen around the medial side of the toe box. The midfoot area is strengthened by another design idea from 20 years ago, the three bold stripes on the side. Taking on a much wider format than usual, these padded stripes provide lockdown to the shoe, and double as the eyelets for the laces. This new modern upper sits atop a bumpy, curvy, and chunky sole unit. Designed to mimic the motion of a stingray, the midsole features a wave-like construction. Tiny ridges all over provide textured appeal to the sole, as well as traction on all sides.
