adidas’ Basketball division has taken on plenty of interesting new looks over the years, though none have stood out quite like the Crazy 98. This Fall, the legendary shoe returns with a new Boost You Wear sole unit.

adidas’ Crazy line has a long and storied history that the brand is sure to revisit in the coming months. Beginning in the 90’s the Feet You Wear technology was originally developed for basketball to bring the wearer’s feet closer to the ground. At the time, adidas was working with Kobe Bryant, who quickly became the face of the FYW line. Despite Bryant’s switch to another big sneaker brand, the Crazy line continued to produce new and exciting iterations for several years. Now, adidas Crazy is back and better than ever, incorporating the new BYW technology into this year’s silhouettes.

With the leak of the adidas Crazy 98 BYW, this marks the first silhouette from the Feet You Wear era that will be updated with the new Boost technology. Previously known as the KB8 II before Bryant left the brand, the Crazy 2 has been renamed once again to the Crazy 98. The construction of the upper is almost exactly the same as the original pairs from 20 years ago, coming in all black for this first pair. The squishy BYW sole rests along the bottom, with thin white rubber covering the forefoot Boost in white.
