adidas 4D technology has been the talk of the sneaker community this year. While releases have been few and far between, the rumors of wider availability are slowly starting to pay off, if Canada’s AlphaEdge release is any indication.

adidas Futurecraft technology has been the center of attention in the Three Stripes world since it was introduced in 2015. Since then, the forward-thinking production methods have scarcely seen the light of day, only releasing in a handful of consumer-ready products. However, 2018 has certainly seen a growth in the availability of Futurecraft sneakers. This month, the Three Stripes blindsided the community with an unannounced release of the AlphaEdge 4D in Canada.

Originally debuted this year, the adidas AlphaEdge has combines the brand’s most advanced technology with their pioneering Alpha running line. However, the version we saw this weekend is largely different from the original colorway. First, the knit upper has been rebuilt as one piece, instead of allowing the tongue to move freely. The heel has also been reconstructed, and now features a more structured heel counter and pull tab. Finally, the Primeknit pattern has been altered drastically, infusing thing grey strands into the predominantly white upper to add extra support.

adidas’ latest entry in the AlphaEdge 4D series was revealed during a surprise drop in Canada this past weekend. Supposedly, around 2,000 pairs were released to the public, making this one of the largest 4D releases to date. Now, a global release date of November 17th, 2018 has been teased, though is yet to be confirmed by the brand.
